Your free spirit means nothing with a closed mind in penultimate Transparent
Welcome to The A.V. Club’s Transparent binge-watch. From Friday, December 11 through Sunday, December 13, A.V. Club contributor Shelby Fero will be watching and reviewing every episode of Transparent’s second season. Though she’s working straight through the season, she’ll be taking some breaks, too, posting three reviews on Friday, four reviews on Saturday, and three reviews on Sunday. You can weigh in on this episode here, discuss the whole season on our binge-watching hub page, and track her Pfefferman-addled mindset on Twitter (@shelbyfero).
It’s common–and easy–for the abused to become abusers. Women, especially women of color, have had it bad for far too long. But it’s with alarming frequency that so-called “feminists” turn on their trans sisters by invalidating their existence–denying their womanhood as well as their trans-womenhood (for which exists entirely new sets of persecution). In light of this episode, I’d simply like to direct you to this piece by actress, model, and co-star of Transparent, Hari Nef.
Grade: A
Hopes: My editor isn’t put out by this review. That I continue to learn and grow and live up to the title of “trans-ally.”
