YouTube Adds 3000 new movies to online rental service
In an attempt to take a bite out of Netflix’s grip on the online movie-rental market, YouTube announced today in a blog post that they will make 3,000 new full-length films available to U.S. users, including “reviews and behind-the-scenes movie extras.” The Google-owned company isn’t content to be the brand for free viral video content, they’re trying to become a one-stop shop for all videos, from user-uploaded shorts, music videos, and Great Job, Internet! fodder to “movie trailers, funny movie parodies, or full-length blockbusters” on any video-enabled device.
