Well, hey, it looks like some celebration is in order! After all, it’s not every day that Infowars host Alex Jones turns out to be right about something (even if does end up happening several months after the fact). But, true to his word, it really does look like YouTube is targeting the reality skeptic/ Brain Force advocate, with Variety reporting that the Infowars YouTube channel has had its live-streaming privileges revoked, and four videos deleted from its account. You finally did it, Alex! And no horde of crisis actors, “scripted” mass shooting writers, or drugged Diet Coke cans can take that away from you.
The Google-owned company’s decision comes after a week that’s seen increased scrutiny on the content that social media platforms host and propagate, with Facebook getting publicly criticized for featuring Infowars in its Watch section. Now, four of the show’s videos—including two targeting Muslims and immigrants, and one titled “How To Prevent Liberalism,” which reportedly “depicted a man shoving a young boy to the ground”—have been pulled from YouTube, with the company declaring, “We have long-standing policies against child endangerment and hate speech. We apply our policies consistently according to the content in the videos, regardless of the speaker or the channel.”
Jones, of course, has already responded to the move, issuing a post on his web site titled, “Sharia-Compliant YouTube Removes Videos Criticizing Islamic Immigration,” just in case you were feeling any brief or misguided bursts of pity toward him. Meanwhile, this is somehow only Jones’ first “community strike”; we eagerly await whatever red-faced, spit-flecked verbal fuck-uppery it’ll take for him to actually get his bloviating presence banned from YouTube once and for all.
