Yusuf is going on tour this fall
Yusuf, the musician usually known as Yusuf Islam and occasionally still known as Cat Stevens, hasn’t toured much in the last few decades, but it’s always well worth the wait when he does hit the road. So, if you have any interest in seeing him play live, you may want to pay attention to the fact that he has just announced a brief tour for this fall in honor of the 50th anniversary of his debut single “I Love My Dog.” That comes from Entertainment Weekly, which notes that the short set of dates includes “his first public shows in New York City since 1976,” along with stops in Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington D.C., and another stop in New York for the socially conscious Global Citizen Festival in Central Park.
Yusuf released a new single earlier this summer called “He Was Alone,” with the proceeds going to help child refugees, and a portion of the ticket sales for this tour—which is dubbed A Cat’s Attic—will go to UNICEF, the International Rescue Committee, and a U.K. charity called Small Kindness.
