Zac Efron might play a DJ in yet another movie about electronic music
At some point, it’s just going to be easier to report on which movies aren’t about electronic music. Back in 2012, Warner Bros. announced that it was making a movie about a DJ who is also a spy or some shit, then Fox said it was making a Project X-style dance party movie featuring Diplo. HBO hit the floor earlier this year by revealing that it was working on a comedy show about electronic music, and then Will Ferrell and Adam McKay jumped in with I’m In Love With The DJ, a movie about a group of girls on a wacky romp through Europe who are trying to find a specific “hot DJ.”
Now, according to The Wrap, Zac Efron is “in negotiations” to star in Max Joseph’s Untitled DJ Project, an untitled movie project about a DJ. Efron would reportedly play Unnamed DJ Character, an up-and-coming DJ who is developing “what he hopes will be his first hit track.”
Joseph, the co-host of MTV’s Catfish, has yet to direct an actual feature film, but he does have a short documentary and some commercials on his résumé. We just hope this isn’t an elaborate catfishing scheme, and what we thought was a new Zac Efron DJ movie is actually one of those other DJ movies. We just wouldn’t be able to handle being lied to like that over the Internet.
