Zach Galifianakis and Owen Wilson are teaming up for a heist movie
Zach Galifianakis is in final talks to star in a new comedy with Owen Wilson centered on an armored car robbery—a comedy that is currently untitled, but was previously billed as Loomis Fargo. Back then, Jim Carrey was set to star, but bailed after a scheduling conflict. With Galifianakis on board, it's now set to shoot next summer, in Galifianakis’ home state of North Carolina.
If everything goes according to plan, Galifianakis will play a pissed-off armored car driver who teams up with a lady coworker and a group of amateur criminals to steal $20 million from a bank’s vault. The crew leaves a huge trail of evidence, and ends up blowing all the money while Galifianakis’ character flees to Mexico, where he's then double-crossed by his fellow thieves back in the States. The film is being directed by Napoleon Dynamite’s Jared Hess, and produced by Lorne Michaels, Dexter’s John Goldwyn, and Eastbound And Down’s Danny McBride and Jody Hill.
Galifianakis and Wilson previously starred together in You Are Here, an indie comedy written by Mad Men’s Matthew Weiner.
