Zach Galifianakis in talks to star in The Incredible Mr. Limpet remake
A timeless tale of an anthropomorphic fish fighting Nazis, The Incredible Mr. Limpet is clearly overdue for an update—or so argues the Los Angeles Times, who exclusively reports that Zach Galifianakis is in talks to enter the “Don Knotts phase” of his career by taking over the film from long-rumored remake candidates like Jim Carrey, Johnny Depp, and Robin Williams. Those negotiations are said to be ongoing, but if Galifianakis agrees, it would be his first major leading role, albeit one split between a live-action performance and whatever CGI-animated Galifianakis-fish would be developed by Enchanted director Kevin Lima. There’s also no word yet on if or how Warner Bros. plans on grittily, edgily updating the original’s WWII-era story, or if it plans on giving Mr. Limpet a little fish-beard. But it would probably have to, right?
