Nat Faxon and Jim Rash’s Downhill tracks the slow-motion implosion of the relationship between vacationing parents Billie and Peter (Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Will Ferrell), but their simmering spat has a snowball effect on those around them. Peter’s colleague Zach and his partner Rosie (Zach Woods and Zoe Chao, respectively) find themselves caught up in the interpersonal avalanche when a wine night becomes an arena of accusations right in front of them. During last month’s Downhill press junket in Los Angeles, we spoke with Zach Woods and Zoe Chao about filming the movie’s centerpiece scene, which positions them as the unsuspecting foils to Billie and Peter’s couple’s quarrel. The actors reminisced about the scene’s three-day shoot, and told us what it was like to be an in-the-room audience to Louis-Dreyfus and Ferrell at the top of their acting game.
