Zayn Malik and Dick Wolf are developing a boy band drama for NBC
Presumably while growing increasingly jealous of Greg Berlanti’s gradual takeover of all TV, Law & Order mastermind Dick Wolf has come up with a way to tap into the typically Dick Wolf-averse teen and pre-teen demographics. To do this, he’s teaming up with former One Direction member Zayn Malik for a scripted NBC show about boy bands. That’s according to Variety, which says the show will be “inspired by” Malik’s life and his “experiences” in One Direction.
The show will be titled Boys—which is just a dynamite names—and it will specifically follow “the formation of a hugely successful boy band” and capture “the excitement, competition, and fun” that comes along with that. Of course, there’ll also be “an inside look into the pressure” of being a member of a hugely successful boy band, which is sometimes so great that it drives members to quit the boy band and make a TV show with Dick Wolf.
In a statement released by Malik, he refers to Wolf as “a legend” and says that “the opportunity to work with him and NBC to create a compelling drama series is awesome.”
