Zoe Saldana and Madison Wolfe to star in I Kill Giants

Variety reports Guardians Of The Galaxy’s Zoe Saldana and Madison Wolfe (The Astronaut Wives Club, True Detective) will tackle behemoths (possibly imaginary ones) in I Kill Giants. Anders Walter will direct the film, which is adapted from the 2008 comic by Joe Kelly and J.M. Ken Niimura. Kelly wrote the screenplay and is co-producing along with Chris Columbus (through his 1492 Pictures/Ocean Blue Entertainment company) and Kim Magnusson, who produced Walter’s Oscar-winning short film Helium. Filming is scheduled to begin in 2016.

The story centers on Barbara (Wolfe), a young girl who retreats into her fantasy life—where she’s trying to save the world from giants—because her real life is plagued by parents who just don’t understand, a schoolyard bully, and an unwanted friend. Saldana will play a psychologist who tries to help Barbara distinguish between her real and imaginary lives.

Saldana recently wrapped the Nina Simone biopic, Nina, and she’ll spend the next few years in sequel land: She’s got Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 and Star Trek Beyond in production, as well as three more Avatar films down the road. Wolfe, who will soon appear alongside Jennifer Lawrence in Joy, is currently filming Keanu with Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele.
