Zooey Deschanel may star in Fox comedy pilot

Adorable vintage frock Zooey Deschanel is in negotiations to star in a Fox comedy pilot—specifically Chicks And Dicks, the previously reported show from No Strings Attached writer Liz Meriwether, which bears a title so crude that associating it with Deschanel is like teabagging a daffodil. Still, while the name is destined to change, the part that Deschanel is eyeing is likely to stay the same: She’s looking to play an “optimistic but unlucky in love elementary school teacher” who moves in with three juvenile dudes after her most recent break-up—and we’re guessing that at least one of them is probably totally in love with her, but too emotionally stunted to make a proper go of it. In that sense, this could end up being a substitute for Deschanel’s scrapped HBO series based on Pamela Des Barres’ groupie memoir I’m With The Band that she discussed with us last year. Basically, Indie-Rocker Dudes Think They Have A Shot With Zooey Deschanel is the show they’re trying to make here, one way or another.
