Here are the nominees for the 2024 Emmy Awards
The Bear leads the nominees for the 76th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, airing September 15
The 2024 Emmy nominations were announced on Wednesday, and the results are about as you’d expect. Returning comedies like Hacks, Abbott Elementary, and Only Murders In The Building continue to be strong favorites, while The Crown will show up to take its final bow. And of course, The Bear got plenty of recognition, setting a new record for nominations in a single year of the Comedy category with 23 nods
As a reminder: Because of where it airs in the eligibility window, The Bear’s nominations today are for its second season, which aired in 2023, not the third season that just premiered last month. (That’s why there are so many Guest Actor nominees from that critically acclaimed Christmas episode.) It feels a little jarring to have a season that aired a full year ago competing in the same cycle as very specifically 2024 shows like Fallout or Shogun (which led the drama nominees with 25 nods). At the last Emmys, the first season of The Bear got a boost from the success of the second. This year, the show may be hampered by a much colder reception to the third season.
We’ll see how it goes for The Bear and everybody else when the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards air on September 15 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
