3 suns align with an exclusive reveal of The Dark Crystal deluxe vinyl soundtrack

December 17, 2017 marks the 35th anniversary of the theatrical release of Jim Henson and Frank Oz’s The Dark Crystal, which means it’s also approximately the 30th anniversary of the time the Skesis sent this writer running from the room crying after renting the movie at our local mom-and-pop video store. This Friday, Enjoy The Ride records will be launching its own celebration of The Dark Crystal with a deluxe release of the film’s score, accompanied by a gorgeous 24-page booklet illustrated with rare production photos and concept art from The Jim Henson Company archives.

Trevor Jones’ score for the film was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in 1982 by the London Symphony Orchestra, and is pressed onto 180-200 gram colored vinyl in five color variants—100 – Black, Three Suns Color In Color, Purple Inside Clear with Purple Splatter, Aughra Split Color Vinyl, and Tri-Color Clear Purple Stripe—inside a gatefold jacket with die-cut center label designed by Josh Bodwell. You can check out an exclusive preview of the record sleeve and very limited web-exclusive color variants below, and buy The Dark Crystal online at the Enjoy The Ride Records website or at your local soundtrack-friendly record store starting this Friday, December 15.
