A Dangerous Method
No one does creepy erotica quite like David Cronenberg, and the trailer for his upcoming A Dangerous Method suggests the film carries with it some of the tensest psychosexual undercurrents since Crash. Based on Christopher Hampton’s play The Talking Cure (which was itself based on John Kerr’s nonfiction book A Most Dangerous Method), it examines the relationship between budding psychiatrist Carl Jung (Michael Fassbender) and his mentor Sigmund Freud (Viggo Mortensen), and the damaged Russian woman (Keira Knightley) who comes between them after Jung begins an inappropriate personal relationship with her. A relationship that involves lots of spanking, apparently. And like Crash, while there’s a definite erotic charge to this movie, something tells us this would make for an awkward date.
