After the death of Walter Becker, Steely Dan announces short North American tour
After Steely Dan guitarist Walter Becker died earlier this year, his bandmate Donald Fagen released a statement saying, “I intend to keep the music we created together alive as long as I can.” Now, Fagen seems to be taking steps to honor that vow, announcing a short set of Steely Dan tour dates for later this year after he wraps up a separate tour with his Nightflyers solo band. Earlier this year, Fagen played another small set of Steely Dan shows without Becker, as he was undergoing an undisclosed surgery of some kind. These new dates skew a little heavily toward the northern part of the United States, but if Fagen is telling the truth about his intention to keep Steely Dan’s music alive, he’ll probably be making more stops in the future.
