Ain't It Cool News contributors step down in wake of Harry Knowles allegations
On Saturday, we reported that a former Alamo Drafthouse employee named Jasmine Baker had accused Harry Knowles—the co-founder of Alamo staple Fantastic Fest and the man behind Ain’t It Cool News—of sexual assault. Now, Variety says that a few Ain’t It Cool News contributors have announced that they’re stepping down. Writer Eric Vespe, who goes by “Quint” on the site, has released a statement on Twitter saying that the behavior Knowles has been accused of is “impossible to defend,” so he no longer wants to be involved with the site. “I can not, in good conscience, continue to contribute to the brand I helped build over the last 20 years,” Vespe said in his statement, adding, “effective immediately I am leaving Ain’t It Cool News.”
Vespe says that fellow Ain’t It Cool News contributors “Horrorella” and Steve “Capone” Prokopy will also be leaving the site, with Prokopy also sharing a statement of his own:
