All Is Lost
In what seems to be an earthbound companion to Alfonso Curaón's harrowing Gravity trailer, the new All Is Lost trailer finds Robert Redford playing a lone sailor whose ship first springs a leak, and then hits a storm. The sparse dialogue here—a distress call that presumably falls on deaf ears—is among the film's only dialogue, as the stark, nearly wordless film strips down man vs. nature to the barest essentials, letting Redford fight for survival with nary a friendly volleyball in sight.
The film is the second effort from Margin Call writer-director J.C. Chandor, and received glowing reviews when it debuted at the Cannes Film Festival (although it did not compete for any awards). The movie hits theaters October 18.
