Amazon has found the teenage super-assassin for its Hanna TV series
If there’s one thing that Netflix’s success with Stranger Things conclusively proved, it’s that audiences are just waiting to fall in love with tough young women who can kill the shit out of every living person in a room. Now, Amazon has revealed its own latest Young Woman Of Mass Destruction (YWMD), in the form of Esme Creed-Miles, the just-announced star of its youthful assassin adaptation Hanna.
Based on Joe Wright’s 2011 action hit of the same name, the series will center on Creed-Miles’ Hanna, a young killer trained from birth to serve as an assassin by her former-CIA father (played in the TV adaptation by Altered Carbon’s Joel Kinnaman). Creed-Miles—a relative newcomer, with just a few small film roles to her name—will be pitted against The Killing’s Mireille Enos, who’s looking to fatally cover up the girl’s existence.
The series is being written by David Farr, who co-scripted the unconventional coming-of-age movie, where Lady Bird favorite Saoirse Ronan played the title role. The series is being directed by Sarah Adina Smith, whose other credits include the 2016 Rami Malek vehicle Buster’s Mal Heart.
