And scene: Mike Myers leaves Del Close biopic
Bad news for fans of Del Close and/or Mike Myers: The biopic about the legendary improv teacher that would have starred the Saturday Night Live alum has lost its funding. According to Deadline, the dire financial straits have forced Myers to quit the project. The film, Del, follows “an aspiring comedian who is taken under the wing of Close, a legendary teacher notorious for pushing his students to their limit. What begins as a disastrous relationship ultimately transforms each of them.” Myers was cast as his former teacher back in February, but apparently, John Malkovich had also considered taking on the role. No one had yet been cast as the improv rookie before the bottom fell out, but the producers are now “regrouping” and planning to recast the lead.
