Apple orders mysterious new drama series from Damien Chazelle

We still don’t know much of anything about Apple’s plans for streaming video content, but the company is picking up high-profile shows that we’ll hopefully be able to see somehow at some point. We recently reported that Kristen Wiig had signed on to star in one of Apple’s three projects with Reese Witherspoon, and now Deadline is reporting that Apple has also picked up a mysterious new hourlong drama project from La La Land director Damien Chazelle. We know literally nothing else about the show, but Apple gave it a straight-to-series order and Chazelle intends to write and direct all episodes.

Whatever this show is, it’ll be Chazelle’s second TV project after Netflix picked up his Parisian nightclub musical series The Eddy. He’ll direct a few episodes of that show, but this Apple thing will be the first time he’s written and directed an entire series.
