Assassin’s Creed Syndicate visits the seedy underbelly of Victorian London

Today, Ubisoft officially unveiled Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, the publisher’s next major game in the series—as opposed to its ongoing trilogy of side stories, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles. As Kotaku reported late last year, Syndicate is taking Creed to London during the height of the Industrial Revolution. The game’s first trailer gives a splashy look at Syndicate’s totally extreme Victorian London, complete with steam-locomotive surfing, carriage fights, grappling hooks, and underground bareknuckle boxing.

Syndicate stars Jacob and Evie Frye, twin siblings working their way to the top of London’s criminal underbelly and making trouble for the city’s wealthy along the way. (Whether or not they’re orphans has yet to be announced, but they’re probably orphans, right?) Both characters will be playable and have specific story missions. Jacob wears a tophat and likes to punch people, as seen in the trailer above. Evie, only shown briefly in the demo video below, is a woman.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is scheduled to be released on October 23 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
