Battlestar Galactica: Blood And Chrome

Seemingly abandoning the pseudo-religious quandaries that made the conclusion of Battlestar Galactica and particularly Caprica such a drag, Battlestar Galactica: Blood And Chrome—as telegraphed by its metal-up-your-ass title—takes a wholly different, more instantly gratifying direction. No more political intrigue, contemporary social commentary, or philosophical musing—bring on the big spaceship battles, explosions, and partial nudity!

The series’ second prequel is set during the early years of William Adama (played here by Luke Pasqualino), back when he was just a brash, hotshot pilot blasting his way through the Cylon War, and long before he became the sage, gravelly voice of reason. And that focus on pure, unexamined action is definitely reflected in this Wondercon-premiered preview, which apes the suddenly archetypal The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo trailer with its quick cuts and, of course, the use of Karen O and Trent Reznor’s version of “Immigrant Song.” For those who appreciated BSG’s quieter, more human side (or who just hate it when videos make literal, obvious plays on lyrics like “the land of ice and snow” and “drive our ships”), this could all be a little off-putting. But for those eager to see new life injected into Battlestar Galactica, it’s pretty thrilling.

UPDATE: It appears NBC Universal has been very diligently blocking all video copies of the trailer, in order to keep people from becoming interested in its show without its prior consent. If we find an approved embeddable copy we'll replace it.
