Blackpink member Lisa to make acting debut in season three of The White Lotus
This is the second time in two years that a Blackpink member has made her acting debut on HBO
HBO is apparently still casting the third season of The White Lotus, and not just because of people who may or may not be associated with the Vladimir Putin regime (which is why Serbian-Russian actor Miloš Biković was recently replaced by Bulgarian actor Julian Kostov). Now, according to Variety, Lalisa Manobal—a.k.a. Lisa from famous and beloved K-Pop group Blackpink—has joined the cast of Mike White’s anthology series as well.
We don’t know who she’ll be playing, since The White Lotus is always kind of a mystery and everyone involved is keeping the plot stuff a secret, but we do know that this season will have a stacked cast (as the show always does). In addition to Lisa, who will be credited as Lalisa Manobal, the new season will feature Walton Goggins, Carrie Coon, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Leslie Bibb, Parker Posey, Dom Hetrakul, Julian Kostov, Scott Glenn, Aimee Lou Wood, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Tayme Thapthimthong. Filming is happening this month in Thailand.
In a fun(?) little side note, this will be the second time a member of Blackpink has made their acting debut on an HBO series. The first was Jennie Ruby Jane, a.k.a. Jennie, who appeared on The Idol last summer. Will season three of The White Lotus be better than The Idol? We hope so. It’s a low bar, but god we hope so.
Anyway, if someone is looking for people to cast in an upcoming HBO show, there are two more members of Blackpink—Rosé and Jisoo—who could totally play somebody in House Of The Dragon or whatever. Jisoo has acted before in Korea, so it’s not quite as fun, but she could still pop up on the Big Little Lies reboot or whatever.
