Bullet To The Head

Riding on the heels of whatever hype The Expendables 2 can garner, the trailer for Sylvester Stallone’s next film, Bullet To The Head, has been released, and sure enough, it looks just like a Sylvester Stallone movie. Directed by Walter Hill, delayed for almost a year, and adapted from a French graphic novel by Alexis Nolent, the film follows a retired hit man (Stallone) who is forced to return—yep, you guessed it—for one last job. With the help of a young NYPD detective (Sung Kang), Stallone scours the city of New Orleans, hunting down and exacting revenge upon the “axe mercenary” (Jason Momoa) who murdered his partner, all while hijinks ensue between the comically mismatched duo. All the apparent highlights are here: hacky age-related one-liners based on false premises; hacky one-liners based in casual racism; a Foreigner song; a song by rap-metal group Saliva, and what appears to be an Apocalypse Now homage.
