Cara Delevingne joins Orlando Bloom in Carnival Row
Though we’ve received just two casting announcements from the new Amazon Prime series Carnival Row, one thing is already clear: This show is going to have some weird character names. We already learned that Orlando Bloom will be playing a guy named Rycroft Philostrate, and now Variety has revealed that Cara Delevingne had joined the series and will be playing a character named Vignette Stonemoss—which is actually kind of awesome.
At this point it’s probably important to note that Carnival Row is a fantasy series set in a futuristic Victorian city, so these names aren’t just weird for the sake of weird. They’re weird because it’s a fantasy thing. Carnival Row focuses on Bloom’s Rycroft, a cop of some kind who is tasked with investigating a fantastical murder, and Delevingne’s Vignette Stonemoss will be a “faerish refugee” who has to deal with “rampant human prejudice” and “the secrets that have followed her.”
Carnival Row is already set for an eight-episode first season, and it will mark the first regular TV gig for both Bloom and Delevingne.
