28 Years Later—the first film in a planned trilogy from director Danny Boyle, inspired by his 2002 horror film, 28 Days Later—may have just locked down the sort of cast that has the potential to raise a franchise to “legendary” status. reports that Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are all on board for at least the first film, which will be penned by Civil War director Alex Garland. No plot details for the new trilogy have been revealed as of this writing, but the move is intended as a sequel to the original film, which starred Cillian Murphy as a bike courier who wakes up from a coma to learn the world has descended into the zombie apocalypse. Sony Pictures is also going all in on this trilogy. They’ve already tapped Nia DaCosta to direct the second film in the trilogy, which will reportedly shoot back-to-back with the first.
