Chelsea Handler decides to focus on activism after Netflix cancels her talk show

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has canceled Chelsea Handler’s streaming talk show Chelsea after two seasons. Handler will continue to work with Netflix, though, as she’s working on a documentary that “highlights her perspective on the current political landscape.” Beyond that, The Hollywood Reporter says that Handler is “expected to focus on activism” now.

Handler shared a little more information about this on Twitter, explaining that the presidential election and “the countless events that have unfolded since” have “galvanized” her to become a “more knowledgeable and engaged citizen.”

The first season of Chelsea on Netflix aired three nights a week in 20-40-minute blocks, but it was retooled into an hourlong weekly show in its second season. The decision to end the show now comes as Netflix is ramping up the production of its original films, with the streaming service hoping to launch 80 new ones next year.
