Courtney B. Vance and Mary-Louise Parker to star in FX’s Compliance
At this point, Ryan Murphy has his own section of the FX backlot, but he’s not the only one extending his relationship with the cable network. Variety reports that Courtney B. Vance, who starred in American Crime Story: The People Vs. O.J. Simpson, will star in the new FX series, Compliance.
The half-hour comedy comes from Sarah Burgess, who is writing the series and sharing executive producing duties with Scott Rudin, Garrett Basch, and Eli Bush. Tony Award winner Sam Gold is set to direct the show, which will star Vance as private equity manager. Weeds’ Mary-Louise Parker has signed on as his co-lead; she’ll be playing his government-appointed compliance monitor. We assume the comedy will come from Vance’s character refusing to comply, and Parker’s character telling him he must—and with this cast, that should actually be fun.
There’s no production start date for Compliance yet.
