CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story

The first trailer for VH1’s TLC biopic is here, and it’s both nostalgic and eerie. The group-sanctioned movie, CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story, will air on the channel Oct. 22, and this is the public’s first real look at Lil Mama as Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, Keke Palmer as Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas, and Drew Sidora as Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins. If the trailer’s any indication, the movie won’t be a heated exploration of Lopes’ fiery (pun intended) relationship with Andre Rison and the events that ultimately led to her death. Instead it's more a celebration of how the group was, at least in their minds, “meant to be,” complete with recreations of at least two of the group’s most famous videos, “No Scrubs” and “Waterfalls.”

Since no VH1 movie would be complete without a new(ish) album from the group the movie’s actually about, a TLC greatest-hits compilation will be released on Epic Records Oct. 15. It features a couple new songs, including tracks written by Lady Gaga and Ne-Yo, plus contributions from Drake and J. Cole. The record also has updated versons of some of the group’s classic songs.
