Danny DeVito jokingly laments Schwarzenegger chose to be governor over making Twins 2
DeVito says he and his old friend are talking about making some new, non-Twins-based project together
Danny DeVito says he and Arnold Schwarzenegger are still talking about making another project together—although he jokingly lamented some of his old friends’ life choices, and the ways they’ve impacted their potential cinematic masterpieces. “We missed Twins 2, because he became governor,” DeVito noted in a new, and very entertaining, interview with GQ this weekend, jokingly adding that “He should have done Twins 2 instead of becoming governor.” (DeVito notes that whatever the new project is, it will not take place in the Twins-iverse, presumably because we’re now too far past the proper timeline for the long-rumored Triplets—although Schwarzenegger popped up 8 years ago, post-governorship, to assert there was a script in place for the film.) (Oh, also: DeVito still wants to get together with Billy Crystal to make Throw Momma From The Train sequel Throw Papa From The Train, which, given how many weird random lines from the 1987 original still live in our head for all eternity, we’d probably feel obligated to at least check out.)
Elsewhere in the interview, DeVito talks about being in a “grandpa group chat” with Bruce Springsteen, his love for fellow Penguin Colin Farrell, and, in a moment of true poetry, goes in-depth about the joys of posting pictures of his feet on social media. We’re just going to re-print the whole quote for the last bit, because it’s beautiful:
I was working and the sunlight was perfect. I just looked down and there was Troll Foot. He’s always with me. I took the picture. And man, I’m telling you, Kaitlin [Olsen] from Sunny used to break my chops all the time: “You can’t put that picture up.” Because sometimes he’s in great shape, sometimes he’s in real bad shape. It depends on how much filing and soaking—you know what you do with your feet. You wash them and everything, that’s good. But if you don’t take care of them.… I never lotion Troll Foot.
(Oh, and he confirmed his never-ending love and commitment to the It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia team, adding that, “I love doing Sunny. We’ve done 16 years. We’re probably going to do more.”) In conclusion: Danny DeVito, still a total delight.
