Three months after a lawsuit brought to light a long-standing accusation of sexual abuse against musician and composer Danny Elfman, another woman has accused the Oingo Boingo frontman of sexually inappropriate behavior. Identified only as Jane Doe XX, the woman in question accuses Elfman of taking advantage of a professional and collegiate relationship with her by frequently appearing naked around her, and later telling her that he had masturbated near her while she was asleep. Per THR, the woman in question, who said the incidents occurred between 1997 and 2002, is now suing Elfman for sexual assault, gender violence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, sexual harassment, and negligence.

The new accusations line up fairly closely with previous accusations made against Elfman by composer Nomi Abodi, who also sought a mentorship relationship with the famed musician, and who was allegedy told, among other things, that nudity was part of his “process.” Abodi settled her suit against Elfman back in 2018, including signing non-disclosure agreements—but went public earlier this year after Elfman reportedly failed to pay the final installment of the settlement amount.

Jane Doe XX says she met Elfman in 1997, when she was 21, and he was 47, and that he quickly began inviting her to industry events and treating her as “a consultant and protegé.” She says that, once they began spending time alone, Elfman would begin stripping off his clothes, claiming that “this was the only way he could work, be creative, and successful.” In her suit, the plaintiff says she put up with this behavior out of fears that Elfman would terminate their association if she protested. At times, the pair would sleep in the same bed, with her never taking off any clothes; when Elfman allegedly told her, circa 2002, that he had masturbated “Every time you have ever slept next to me,” she terminated the relationship.

A representative for Elfman issued a statement today, writing that, “The allegations of misconduct made against Mr. Elfman are baseless and absurd. His legal team is assessing all options and he will vigorously defend these claims in court.”
