According to The Hollywood Reporter, David Oyelowo is set to star in Cyrano The Moor, a live-action musical mashup of William Shakespeare’s Othello and the French play Cyrano De Bergerac from Disney. The project is being written by Moonlight playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney, with Oyelowo and his wife Jessica Oyelowo producing. We don’t have any specifics about the plot, but the original Cyrano is about a guy helping another guy win a woman’s love and Othello is a tragic tale of revenge. It’s probably worth noting that we don’t even know if this will be a kid-friendly musical like Beauty And The Beast or some kind of Disney musical for adults, but that will probably have a big impact on whether or not this is a murder and suicide-filled tragedy or a lighter tale of romantic drama.
