DC's Titans casts its Hawk and Dove
The superhero team’s coming together over at DC Comics’ new digital service, the one that still doesn’t have a name, but has already lined up to a couple adaptations: Young Justice (which made the move from Cartoon Network); and Titans, from the tireless Greg Berlanti. The latter stars Brenton Thwaites (Gods Of Egypt) as Dick Grayson, the original Robin and leader of the Titans. So far, he’s joined in the core cast by 24: Legacy’s Anna Diop as Starfire and Home And Away’s Teagan Croft as Raven. A few more bird-inspired characters have just swooped in, as Deadline reports that Alan Ritchson and Minka Kelly have been cast as Hawk and Dove.
You’ll remember Kelly from Friday Night Lights, of course, and being Leighton Meester’s doppelganger, while Ritchson was a hero in a half shell in the latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot (and Aquaman on Smallville). Brothers Hank and Don Hall were the original Hawk and Dove, respectively, in the comics. But Dawn Granger became Dove II after Don’s death, so this is presumably the pairing DC’s going with for the digital series. Hawk is known for being a bruiser, while Dove is more strategic. This odd couple will recur on Titans, but there’s also potential for a spin-off, according to Deadline.
