Lifetime announces TV movie about Oscar Pistorius

As reported by Deadline, Lifetime has greenlit a TV movie about Oscar Pistorius, the South African Paralympic champion and convicted murderer who became known as the “Blade Runner” because of his advanced prosthetic legs. In 2014, Pistorius was convicted of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day night in 2013, with him explaining that he shot her because he thought she might have been an intruder. (The court eventually ruled that it didn’t matter who he thought he was shooting at, he was still shooting at someone.)

The Lifetime movie will focus on Steenkamp, telling the story of her “apparent fairy tale relationship” with the star athlete, the events that lead up to her death, and the courtroom drama that followed. Also, as an interesting indication of just how quickly Lifetime can put these things together, the movie—Oscar Pistorius: Blade Runner Killer—is already set for a November premiere.
