Don't get your hopes up, but there might be a new My Bloody Valentine album next year

Longtime My Bloody Valentine fans know better than to get too excited at the prospect of new music from Kevin Shields and company. Sometimes, work comes out after a significant delay—as with the long-promised remasters of MBV’s ‘90s output, or the group’s newest album, MBV—or not at all. So it’s with a pinch of salt that we report that yesterday, a poster on Reddit’s Indieheads forum discovered this snippet in Shields’ performer profile for Sigur Ros’ norður og niður festival:

kevin is currently finishing an all analog vinyl version of loveless and isn’t anything and is also working on material for a new my bloody valentine album to be released in 2018.

This is all hypothetical for the time being, but we’ll let you know if and when Shields and/or the rest of the band confirms it. The norður og niður festival will take place in Reykjavik, Iceland from December 27-30; just be careful of running into a theater troupe on the flight over.
