Elijah Wood explains the rules of the game in a The Thing: Infection At Outpost 31 exclusive
The Thing: Infection At Outpost 31, Mondo’s first foray into board games, is out now, just in time to plant seeds of mistrust among friends and family members for the holiday season. The game, based on John Carpenter’s 1982 horror classic, charges players with escaping from the eponymous Antarctic outpost, killing any Things they find along the way while trying to figure out which of their fellow players have been infected and are about to transform into grotesque alien blobs. Fortunately, the gameplay is a little more sedate than that. But there are still a few basic steps that need to be followed. In the video above—exclusive to Mondo and The A.V. Club— Elijah Wood, a.k.a. “Steve,” walks us through the rules of the game in a video missive from the outpost itself. (Yeah, we know it’s a green screen. Just relax and play along.)
You can take a closer look at the Mondo exclusive edition of Infection At Outpost 31—which debuts this weekend, November 4-5, at MondoCon in Austin—in a previous Mondo/The A.V. Club exclusive, and find out how to get a copy of the game on the Mondo website.
