Elisabeth Moss to follow Emmy win with abortion drama Call Jane

Though she just won an Emmy for her work on The Handmaid’s Tale, it doesn’t sound like Elisabeth Moss has any intention of kicking back and taking on something lighter for her next role. According to Variety, Moss is set to star in the feature film Call Jane, a drama about a group of women who organized an underground network to provide safe abortions in 1960s Chicago. The story is based on the real-life work of the Jane Collective—a.k.a. Jane—which helped provide women with safe abortions in Chicago in the years before Roe V. Wade made them legal in 1973. In the film, Moss will apparently play a married woman who becomes pregnant unexpectedly and turns to the secret group for help.

Call Jane will be directed by Simon Curtis, who previously made My Week With Marilyn.
