Enough Said

Enough Said won't have the distinction of being James Gandolfini's last movie (it looks like next year's Animal Rescue will carry that unfortunate honor), but it will be his first posthumous film. Probably not the best starting point for a romantic comedy, but at least Enough Said already looks to be more bittersweet than screwball. Julia Louis-Dreyfus stars as a neurotic divorced woman who enters into a romance with an affable schlub played by Gandolfini, while at the same time beginning a friendship with his ex-wife (Catherine Keener). Neither woman is aware of their one-step-removed connection at first, but once Louis-Dreyfus figures it out, she can't help but let Keener's criticisms of her ex form a wedge between her and Gandolfini. Any concerns over the mildly convoluted aspects of the plot should be allayed by the presence of writer-director Nicole Holofcener (Lovely & Amazing, Please Give), who can be expected to treat the characters and situations with the appropriate levels of depth and frivolity.
