First Venom teaser certainly has the basic elements of his story down

Ruben Fleischer’s Venom movie is still in production, which could explain why the first teaser for Sony’s Spider-Man spin-off is made up of just the basic parts of the villain turned anti-hero’s story.

There’s Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, Michelle Williams as his ex-wife Anne Weying, and yep, that’s the symbiote rearing its… head? in some kind of container. That’s everything most people know about Brock’s transformation into Venom, but with a little more Riz Ahmed and Reid Scott. Even Eddie’s voiceover about personal demons just indicates this is going to be an origin story, which is just par for the course for superhero movies.

Still, this is just a teaser for the film, which slides into theaters October 5, so maybe Sony’s saving any plot details or signs of Carnage for the first proper trailer.
