FX can’t get enough of Better Things either, orders 3rd season
While the global tire fire that is existence these days rages on, we’d like to take a moment to remind you of the Better Things in life—namely, that FX has ordered a third season of Pamela Adlon’s superb dramedy. The series is inspired by Adlon’s life as a working single mother and a working actor, but renders everyday occurrences like school assemblies, auditions, and your mother stealing Egyptian artifacts in a much more heightened fashion. Adlon’s performance as Sam Fox grounds the flights of fancy; even from the end of her rope, she manages to be the emotional center of the show. And Better Things, which was co-created by Louis CK, will return for a third season in 2018, according to a press release from the cable network, which rightly describes the series as a “testament to the creative genius of Pamela Adlon.”
The series has built on the momentum from its exceptional debut. In its second season, which is currently underway, Sam is at a romantic crossroads, which would be fine if she weren’t also dealing with three kids and a mother who might not be able to live alone anymore. But tonight’s episode “Eulogy” finds her demanding acknowledgment in her home life.
Better Things airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
