Gina Rodriguez leads a great ensemble on the multigenerational sitcom Jane The Virgin and co-stars in Alex Garland’s lush, sci-fi pastiche Annihilation, but she just got the casting call she’s been eagerly awaiting: a guest spot on Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
A little background: When Rosa Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz) came out as bisexual on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, co-creator Dan Goor told Entertainment Weekly the show would eventually introduce the detective’s girlfriend. When asked her thoughts about casting, Beatriz, who’s openly bisexual, said “Love Gina Rodriguez, and think she would be fantastic.” Not long after, Rodriguez tweeted that she was down.
Well, according to EW, Rodriguez has secured a guest spot on the Michael Schur sitcom, though there’s no word on who she’ll actually be playing. But social media users have willed other projects into being, so there’s certainly a chance that Rodriguez will get to cozy up to Beatriz on screen.
