Glee cast collaborates on unreleased Naya Rivera track for charity
The Glee cast is promoting the annual Snixxmas Charity event with a posthumous song from Naya Rivera, “Prayer For The Broken”
Some Glee cast alums are honoring the late Naya Rivera with their annual Snixxmas Charity event. This year, the centerpiece of the fundraiser is an unreleased song Rivera recorded before her death called “Prayer For The Broken,” which features new background vocals from Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Amber Riley, Heather Morris, Vanessa Lengies, and Ashley Fink.
“SNIXXMAS IS HERE! This year we are fortunate to be putting out an unreleased Naya Rivera song, ‘Prayer For The Broken.’ All proceeds [benefiting] @AHouse_LA!” McHale, who played Artie on Glee, posted to Twitter/X. “Let’s celebrate the gifts Naya gave to us, her talent and her heart. If you’re able to donate please do while you stream, download, or buy ‘Prayer For The Broken’ wherever you get your music. Special thank you to the writers and producer of ‘Prayer For The Broken’ Isaac Hasson & Lindy Robinson for gifting this to the world.”
According to the organization’s website, this new version of “Prayer For The Broken” was released with the blessing of Hasson and Robinson as well as Rivera’s mother, Yolanda Previtire. “We hope that ‘Prayer for the Broken’ brings you the same comfort it has brought us over the years—a poignant reminder of Naya’s otherworldly talent and a heartfelt gift, allowing us to hear her once more through this inspiring message,” the organization wrote on their website.
Snixxmas was inspired by Rivera’s annual holiday party and her past work to raise money for Alexandria House, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit that works to “provide safe and supportive housing for women and children experiencing homelessness and trauma,” per its website. Since Rivera’s death in 2020, the Snixxmas event has been held in her memory; her Glee castmates have participated in various ways, including a reunion livestream in 2021. To date, Snixxmas has raised almost $250,000 for Alexandria House. Information on donating can be found here.
