Past Lives, All Of Us Strangers, and The Last Of Us score Gotham Awards nominations
The Gotham Awards, which take place November 27, released a list of nominees that include Past Lives and Interview With The Vampire
The Gotham Awards announced its list of nominations for the 33rd annual ceremony on Tuesday, kicking off what is sure to be an interesting awards season. With the actors strike still in effect, some of the films intended to be released this year were shuffled off the schedule, and the ones that were released largely didn’t have the benefit of promotion from their stars. Nevertheless, some great film and television was released this year, including Past Lives, All Of Us Strangers, and The Last Of Us.
All Of Us Strangers, which stars Andrew Scott, Paul Mescal, Claire Foy, and Jamie Bell, leads the list of nominees with four nods, including Best Screenplay, Best International Feature, and recognition for Scott and Foy. Past Lives earned a Best Feature nod as well as nominations for Celine Song in the Breakthrough Director category and Greta Lee for Outstanding Lead Performance. Beyond The Last Of Us, other television series to get some awards love include Beef, Swarm, I’m A Virgo, and Anne Rice’s Interview With The Vampire.
Last week, The Gotham Film & Media Institute announced that Ben Affleck’s Air would receive the ceremony’s first-ever Gotham Visionary Icon and Creator Tribute, an award meant “to recognize cultural icons and the filmmakers responsible for bringing those icon’s stories to life,” per Variety.
“Both gripping and hilarious, Air is a deeply refreshing reminder to the film industry that audiences respond to smart, original narratives,” Jeffrey Sharp, the Institute’s executive director, said in a statement. “By capturing the dramatic story behind the most monumental partnership in the history of sports marketing, the film highlights the power of knowing your worth and using that knowledge to take the right risks. We are privileged to honor both the story behind a legend and the Air team who brought that story to life with the Visionary Icon & Creator Tribute.” Maestro and Rustin were also revealed as tribute recipients during Tuesday’s announcement.
The Gotham Awards will take place on November 27, 2023. You can read the full list of nominations below.
