Handmaid's Tale season 2 teaser breaks down the rules of a dystopia
As we prepare to head back to Gilead, The Handmaid’s Tale wants to make sure we haven’t forgotten any of the oppressive regime’s rules.
In a voiceover, Offred (Elisabeth Moss) rattles off the requirements for handmaids. They must “wear the red dress, wear the wings.” “Shut your mouth,” she says bitterly, before continuing: “Be a good girl. Roll over and spread your legs. Yes, ma’am.” She signs off with another fertility-based salutation, “may the Lord open.” But based on her blood-soaked nightgown and look of steely resolve, Offred aims to misbehave in season two.
The teaser also shows a very much alive Ofglen (Alexis Bledel), a more violent Serena Joy (Yvonne Strahovski), a weeping Moira (Samira Wiley), and a beatific Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd). It’s all enough to make you/Offred say: “Seriously? What the actual fu–”
Blessed be The Handmaid’s Tale season two, which premieres April 25 on Hulu.
