HBO picks up 2 new shows executive produced by Issa Rae
With Issa Rae’s Insecure set to return for a third season on HBO next year, the premium cable network has decided to pick up two new projects that she’ll be executive producing. That comes from Deadline, which says the two shows are a half-hour comedy called Him Or Her and an hourlong drama called Sweet Life. The first one comes from Emmy-winning writer Travon Free, and it’s about the romantic adventures of a bisexual black man who must navigate “the distinctly different worlds and relationships he finds himself in.”
The other show, Sweet Life, is set in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Windsor Hills. Deadline says it’s a coming-of-age story about the “well-heeled teens” of the upper-class community. Sweet Life was co-created by Rae and Scandal producer Raamla Mohamed, and the two of them will also write the series.
