Hey, it's the theme song for the new Muppet Babies, complete with Hamilton's Renée Elise Goldsberry
For kids who grew up in what we’re just going to go ahead and call “The Muppet Babies generation,” few of the show’s elements were more inescapable than its constantly upbeat earworm of a theme song, with its quasi-Faustian promises to “make your dreams come true.” Now, the show’s upcoming Disney Jr. revival—which recently announced actress Jenny Slate as the never-seen Miss Nanny—is luring in older fans yet again, this time with its own rendition of the classic tune, as sung by former Hamilton star Renée Elise Goldsberry.
We don’t get to hear the full version of the theme in this TVLine video—mostly because people are talking over it about how much they loved the original—but there’s enough there to get a sense of what we’ll be getting when the show eventually premieres. The basic melody is the same, for instance, albeit with Goldsberry doing a little Broadway belting, and some individual bits introducing us to each of the show’s characters. We’ll hear the full version (and immediately get it stuck in our heads, presumably) when the series debuts next month.
