It’s a bully day for those with very specific fetishes, as the new trailer for the whimsical comedy Hysteria features scene after scene of prim, Victorian-era British ladies getting a right and proper finger-rogering, all in the name of medical science. Hugh Dancy and Rupert Everett play doctors literally groping their way toward a cure for female anxiety, which eventually leads to the invention of a particularly dangerous looking prototype for the vibrator—the solution to most, if not all women’s troubles, apparently. Maggie Gyllenhaal drops by as the sassy, sort-of-British-accented voice of the modern lady, a bicycle-riding hellion who sees the liberation in masturbation. But mostly, this preview is a montage of women having reserved, thoroughly English orgasms, and for once you can say you’re just watching it for the art.
