It’s one teen girl against huge monsters in the trailer for I Kill Giants
Sometimes being a kid can feel like it’s just you against the entire world. In the case of the teenage protagonist of new film I Kill Giants, it’s not just the world that she’s fighting; it’s absolutely massive creatures that want to destroy her whole life.
The Conjuring 2's Madison Wolfe stars as loner kid Barbara Thorson in the upcoming adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name, which just released its first trailer. Were you to just see the trailer, you might think it’s one of those stories where none of the adults believe a kid until a horrific creature appears and almost wrecks everything. But even a brief description from the press release makes it sound much more ambiguous—as in, maybe all this really is just in her head. Describing her as a girl who “escapes the realities of school and a troubled family life by retreating into her magical world of fighting evil giants,” the beasts who populate the film may not be so visible to anyone else. Zoe Saldana and Imogen Poots deliver supporting turns in the movie, and the trailer makes it look like an engaging and darker-than-usual story about kids and monsters. We won’t know for sure how real the giants are until the film premieres on March 23—unless, of course, you grab a copy of the graphic novel and find out for yourself.
