J. Smith Cameron is down to host a Succession rewatch podcast

The actor who plays Gerri Kellman is just like us: she'll never truly leave Waystar Royco

Okay, fine: we guess we’ll be the first to say it. If Wizards Of Waverly Place can support a whole rewatch podcast, Succession should get one too, dammit! And J. Smith Cameron, the face behind Waystar General Counsel (and part-time Roman Roy obsession) Gerri Kellman, agrees with us.

In a recent interview with The A.V. Club, we asked Cameron whether or not she’d ever consider hosting a podcast like this. “Absolutely!” she responded. “What a great idea.” Whatever producer wants to jump on this million-dollar pitch and actually make it happen, consider this writer your first patron-level subscriber.

In many ways, this hypothetical podcast fits into Cameron’s pre-arranged plans. “I’ve been wanting to rewatch it already, actually, kind of just to get some closure or something. I’ve been thinking of doing that if I can set aside some time to really binge it in a row. I think that would be really cool,” she said. Hey, podcast producers: here’s another killer idea for you. Get Kieran Culkin to co-host. We all know the two have some wacky, undeniable chemistry and Cameron even said she wished their two characters could have a reunion someday after the finale. Kieran hasn’t even watched the finale yet because he couldn’t access his Max account while filming in Poland, according to Entertainment Weekly. Somebody… anybody… please make this happen. We’re begging you.

Even if the Succession pod never materializes, Cameron has some other drafts in the hopper. She also said she’d be interested in hosting an audio series about “politics but not by pundits, just regular people talking about things they were confused by or worried about or interested in” or, in a completely different realm, “where to go in different cities for the best martini.”

As something of a pilot for that second pitch, Cameron offered some of her favorites in New York City, where the interview was conducted. She loves the martinis at Balthazar (yes, the same establishment that banned James Corden last year) and also gave a special shout-out to Billy, the bartender at Gotham Bar and Grill. We normally wouldn’t just throw out ideas like this for free, but it sounds like Billy would make a great guest on the rewatch podcast… just a thought.
