Jaden Smith voices a demon-slaying teen in trailer for Ezra Koenig's Neo Yokio
Posh teens and their overbearing aunts populate Neo Yokio, the “greatest city in the world” according to this trailer and Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig. This Netflix-based anime features Jaden Smith as the voice of Kaz Kaan, the latest in a line of “magistocrats,” pink-haired people who keep the world safe from demons. But despite Aunt Agatha’s (Susan Sarandon) insistence, this lovesick teen isn’t interested in fighting off demons so much as mending his broken heart—that, and competing with Neo Yokio’s most eligible bachelor, Arcangelo (Jason Schwartzman). From the looks of Kaz’s hadokens and mecha (Jude Law), though, he’ll eventually come around to defending the city.
The series was created by Koenig, and also features The Kid Mero, Desus Nice, Stephen Fry, Katy Mixon, Tavi Gevinson, Willow Smith, and many more famous people. You can visit Neo Yokio beginning September 22 on Netflix.
